Kohlmyer & Associates Wins TVN Basford Cup
WOOSTER - Twenty-eight teams competed in the recent Buckeye Container-Village Network Golf Classic at the Wooster Country Club. The winning team took home the Basford Cup, a five-day, four-night trip on The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama and $1,000 in spending money.
Ken Kohlmyer, Ryan Wade, Ron White and Marty Gaudiose of the Kohlmyer & Associates team were the Grand Champion winners. Kohlmyer (photo: 3rd from left) has played in the golf classic for many years and this is his first championship. Kohlmyer's team won their flight and a right to compete in a chip-off for the top prize. The ball closest to the pin determined the winner.
Other flight winners were Briggs Financial Group with Adam Briggs, Adam Starr, Keith Patterson and Jeremy Noll; Hawk Hill Properties with Cindy Acker, Gail Hackett, Janet Frey and Becka Kasapis; and the Jim & Mary Basford Team with Jim Basford, Greg Basford, Troy Matheny and Dave Daubenmire.
Eagles Aeries #2261 from Geauga with Bobby Rein, Darren Ewaska, Ken Bevington and Ken Bevington III won the Don Case trophy which is awarded to the best Eagle's team.
The annual helicopter ball drop was postponed because of bad weather. A new date will be set soon.
The golf classic is one of two local fundraisers for The Village Network (TVN). Buckeye Container has been the corporate sponsor for nearly all 28 years of the tournament. To date, over $1 million have been raised through the golf outing for the boys and girls under the care of TVN.
TVN operates 11 network locations in Ohio and serves over 560 troubled boys and girls daily.
