Focusing on Youth Issues Conference

Emily Schubel, LPPC, NCC, Program Therapist of Knox Community Programs and Dave Paxton, LISW, Regional Director of The Village Network will be presenting a workshop at the annual Focusing on Youth Issues conference on Tuesday June 17, 2008. The workshop, “A Relational Approach for Working with Traumatized Children” focuses on how trauma affects a child’s growth and development in the classroom. Schubel and Paxton will teach several approaches to working with a distressed child through Parent-Child Interactive Therapy. This workshop will also include hands-on and interactive exercises.

The Focusing on Youth Issues conference began in 2002 as a solution to educators who wanted to learn more about the mental and health issues that face today’s students. This annual conference continues to grow each year with thirty sessions and great networking opportunities. The conference will be held at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, OH.
